Peru Volunteer Ambulance Service is a combination paid-volunteer ambulance service.  We serve the communities of Peru, LaSalle, Dimmick Twp., and Peru Twp.  We commit to high quality performance.  You must submit the following information and meet the following requirements in order to be considered for Peru Volunteer Ambulance Service, Inc.

1. All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

2. Must be 21 years of age in order to drive any of our ambulances.

3. You must have three valid references. (If we are unable to contact your personal references, your application will be denied).

4. You must fully complete the application form.

5. Copy of a valid Illinois Emergency Medical Technician Licensure.

6. Copy of a valid Illinois Driver License.

7. Proof of Vehicle Insurance.

8. Copy of a valid health care provider CPR card.

9. Copy of current Continuing education credits.

10. Copy of immunization records.

Upon receipt of the application form, the following steps will be taken for hiring:

1. Verification of references and previous employment.

2. EMS standing review (of current and /or past EMS systems)

3. System entry exam-conducted by IVCH EMS System Personnel

4. Criminal record review-conducted at your cost

5. IDPH review of licensure

6. Drug and alcohol screening-conducted at your cost

7. Oral Interview with Executive Director

8. Pre-employment physical-conducted at your cost

9. 8 hour ride time with shift personnel

10. Conditional job offer/or offer to join volunteer status

11. Probation period of 3 months

The above steps apply to Paid position applicants, as well as volunteer applicants.

Peru Volunteer Ambulance Service, Inc. reserves the right to conduct physical, oral and written testing for any position.

• Part time position applicants must have a minimum of 1 year documented EMS field experience.

• Full time position applicants must have a valid Illinois Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate or Paramedic Licensure, and have a minimum of 1 year documented EMS field experience.  EMT-basic applicants for full time positions will have 1 year to complete the EMT-I program successfully. 

Personnel under 21 years of age with a valid Illinois commercial Drivers License (CDL) are eligible to drive the ambulances.  All volunteers over 21 years of age must be able to drive any of our ambulances.

 Hiring may be limited due to the current roster.

PVAS reserves the right to limit hiring at any given time.
